Dopaminergics affect the neurotransmitter dopamine or parts of the nervous system that use it. It is produced by the synthesis of catecholamine neurotransmitters. The Dopamine Nootropics (smart drugs) are the dopamine producers, cofactors, and dopamine reuptake inhibitors. Studies have shown beneficial effects of L-Dopa in patients with Parkinsons Disease and Dopa-Responsive Dystonia. Dopamine controls the flow of information throughout the brain. Dopamine disorders in the frontal lobes can cause a decline in neurocognitive functions, especially memory, attention, and problem solving. Low dopamine concentrations in the prefrontal cortex are thought to contribute to A.D.D. Dopamine is associated with the pleasure system of the brain, providing feelings of enjoyment and reinforcement to motivate a person proactively to perform certain activities.
